Department VI Gender
The Department VI Gender critically reflects gender relations and uses this perspective in an analysis of education, society, theology and Church in order to develop and implement approaches towards a juster and more equal gender balance. The Centre for Women's Studies and Education of the EKD (Frauenstudien- und -bildungszentrum, FSBZ in der EKD) in Hofgeismar is part of this Department. Members of other Departments are also involved with further gender-related efforts.
The Centre for Women's Studies and Education provides gender-oriented education for women by women as well as undertaking valuable documentation and publication services. It holds courses and seminars for women from the EKD's member Churches and their affiliated associations, institutions and organisations as well as being open to women from outside the Church. Its mission is to contribute to the internal renewal and growth of the Church in terms of greater equality for women by educationally addressing impulses and requirements arising from the practical experience of Church work.
