Europe
The European and international perspective has gained increasing interest in the work of the Institute. In collaboration with European networks like the Intereuropean Commission on Church and School ICCS (http://www.iccsweb.org/) and the Coordinating Group for Religion in Education in Europe (http://www.cogree.com/), conferences, workshops and other projects are organised. The main themes are comparative religious education and the educational policy of European institutions (mainly Council of Europe and the European Union). Texts in English are available about European Churches and Education, about "Visions for the Future" of European education as well as about a project that addresses "Religion in the Context of a Europeanisation of Education".The European project REDCo, the first substantial research project on religion and education financed by the European Commission (2006-2009) has published Policy recommendations based on key research findings. REDCo (Religion in Education. A contribution to Dialogue or a factor of Conflict in transforming societies of European Countries) has carried out qualitative and quantitative research in eight countries, mainly focusing on religion in the lives and schooling of students in the 14-16 age group.
The Policy recommendations address different national contexts as well as the European level.
The Comenius-Institut has provided the database for the project and took part in the advisory group.
